A rich history of the Nebraska Governor’s Residence and recipes reflecting the state’s heritage is now available. Inspired Recipes from Nebraska is filled with contributions by distinguished Nebraskans, including Governor Heineman and First Lady Sally Ganem, First Lady Diane Nelson, First Gentleman Bill Orr and many other dignitaries. Proceeds from sales will provide funds for educational materials about the history of the Governor’s residence given to grade schools and for updates to the residence. Earlier this year the Governor’s Residence was placed on the National Registry of historic places. Order today and enjoy it for years to come. As Nebraska’s First Lady, I am a passionate supporter of the Friends of the Governor’s Residence, which is raising funds via sales of the collaborative cookbook, Inspired Recipes from Nebraska. Funds will be used for educational materials about the Governor’s Residence, and for its continued updating. The cookbook gives you so much more than personal recipes from Nebraska’s current and former first families; past and serving state senators, and many other well-known Nebraskans. Photos of the Residence and interesting tales of living there are interwoven with the recipes. Contributor’s stories accompany many recipes: Former Governor Mike Johanns was actually a night-time refrigerator bandit! Residence Updates and Upgrades: We’re now joining the 21st century!
